Open, it measures 39 cm wide, 28 cm tall and 7 cm deep — about the size of a standard shopper. In practice that is a market run, a few days of groceries, or a 13-inch laptop with a gym kit alongside it. It is a genuinely useful bag, not a bottomless one. One exception: White is made in a smaller cut than the other five colourways, so it holds noticeably less.

No — it is an open-top shopper, like a canvas tote or a paper grocery bag. The gathered strap draws the mouth in a little when it hangs, but there is no zip or magnet across the opening. The case it folds into is the part that closes, with a snap under the gold-tone bar. We would rather say this here than have you find out at the till.

No. The shell is nylon and the flap and trim are a coated vegan leather with gold-tone hardware. We say so plainly rather than letting the word "leather" do quiet work in the product title. Both wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Spot clean the nylon with mild soap and cool water, then air dry. Skip the machine — it is the hardware and the leather trim that object, not the fabric.
